What did you pay last year?  H&R Block's average fee last year was $172 and that "average" includes several thousand sales of TaxCut software (2008 annual report, pg 42).  Jackson-Hewitt's average fee last year was $189 (2008 annual report, pg 29).  Were you surprised by the high price quoted at the end of your visit?  There will be no surprises at CYB.  No matter what you paid last year to any other tax preparer, subtract 30%.  You’ll save a minimum of 30% this year...30% off last year’s bill.  I'll also beat any estimated price you get this year from any competitor.  My average fee this past year was only $87.

  DROP-OFF SERVICE
 Drop-off service is available. Simply leave your documents (last year’s tax return & receipt, W-2s, 1098s, 1099s, property tax stmts, charitable donations, rental property records, moving expense receipts, tuition stmts, student interest stmts, completed questionnaire, etc.) and I’ll complete your taxes while you’re at work, enjoying the slopes, out shopping, or taking in a movie. You can review, sign and pick up your completed return at your convenience on the way home.

· Walk-in service is welcome.  Available other hours and evenings with appointment.

 SERVICES

· Federal and all state returns, current and prior year's

· E-filing or paper returns

· Refund Anticipation Loans (RALs) upon request.  No local processing fee(s) are charged.

A law passed 2 years ago and effective this tax season prohibits active military personnel from receiving most tax refund loans.  Your military supervisor and/or legal assistance office can provide details.

The U.S. GAO (General Accountability Office), researched the issue for the U.S. Senate and recommended taxpayers: 

· Obtain recommendations from people you trust; 

· Check out your preparer’s qualifications;  

· Make sure you understand the services you will be getting, how much they cost, and how they will benefit you;  

· Make sure your preparer understands your personal circumstances and reviews your official tax documents; and 

· Review your completed return before you sign it or authorize efiling.
